The Definition of Health

There are many definitions of health, but one that most people are familiar with is the word “well-being.” It is an important part of our daily lives, a resource in which we can depend. The concept of health refers to our social, mental, and physical capacities. Physical health refers to our ability to achieve homeostasis and recover from adverse events. Mental health is the capacity to cope with stress, acquire new skills, and maintain relationships.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as complete physical, mental, and social well-being. The promotion of health is concerned with promoting and maintaining good health. In order to promote a healthy lifestyle, we need to engage in healthy activities, reduce the exposure to unhealthy situations, and practice self-management. We can do this by changing our behaviors and implementing new ones. But, we must keep in mind that our behaviors can also contribute to our health.
